Well yesterday was full of joyful news! I am a student member of the Association for Humanistic Counseling. I really feel this type of counseling is something that resonates with me and I utilize principles of this practice often in my work. A few months ago, there was a call to submit poster presentation proposals and I decided to do so for the 86-page manual I created in my groups class over the summer. Yesterday I received word of their decision: my proposal was accepted! I will be presenting my poster at their conference in May in Nashville, TN! Over the summer I developed this 8-week psychoeducational manual for running a small group for 5th graders on the topic of self-esteem and I am so excited to get to share this with conference attendees!
I am extremely excited to be able to do so. I have not presented a poster before, and it is something I have always wanted to do. I am so thankful and proud to be accepted to present this poster, and hope that by doing so I contribute to the greater knowledge in our counseling profession!
I am also excited to attend the conference and get to meet wonderful scholars and learn about their work. This will be such an informative time, and I look forward to all of the new knowledge I will acquire that can help me improve my practice.
